Le Rubis is probably without a doubt the best known wine bar in Paris and offers an extensive wine list that is centred mainly around the wines from the Beaujolais and Loire regions of France.
This wine bar is popular with the locals from businessmen to students and you will be able to experience good wines at a reasonable cost with some traditional French snacks or bristo style meals, like andouillette, herring with egg and mayonnaise, beouf bourguignon or pork knuckle with lentils.
The rustic and simple 1950's style interior with its tiny formica tables covered with crisp white paper, a napkin, cutlery and an overturned wine glass that is ready to be filled along with neon lighting and zinc counter depict the casual style with the cheerful local people and regulars that make the atmosphere so friendly. Completely different to many other wine bars you are likely to visit, even though it is situated just around the corner from the chic Place Saint-Honore, outside you will see wine barrels covered with red-chequered cloth that people sit at drinking and chatting.
Situated in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris this is a great place to stop off after you have been traipsing round the fancy clothes, jewellery and accessory shops or even if you have been to the Opera Garnier, which is also not far away from Le Rubis Wine Bar.
Lyonnaise cooking is linked with the Beaujolais vineyards that are situated nearby, and you guessed it, the cuisine you will find here is traditional French food from Lyon.
Wine Bar Key Points
Le Rubis is open from noon until 9.30pm, but is closed on a Saturday evening and all day Sunday.
Full meals are only served at lunchtime and only snacks are available at other times.
There is no particular dress code and you will see people wearing jeans through to suits.
