Au Pied de Cochon is a very traditional type of restaurant that first opened its doors back in 1947 and since then has never been closed. Yes, you read correctly, this venue is open 24 hours a day, every day!
Subtly combining the old traditions with the modern, for many years Au Pied de Cochon has been a tradition to many Parisians as the stop off point after a late night out to have their famous onion soup prior to going home.
Yet this legendary establishment provides some fantastic seafood dishes like different varieties of oysters that you can wash down with some champagne at the bar, but it also remains true to its name with numerous different pork dishes from grilled pig's feet with béarnaise sauce, knuckle of pork, stuffed pig's trotter, pork chops and much, much more.
Situated in the 1st Arrondissement in the Chatelet district of Paris near to The Louvre, The Pompidou Centre and Les Halles, you are also able to purchase some of the freshest oysters outside this restaurant in Paris.
Some of the other dishes served are a little less unusual and would be more suitable, especially for the not so adventurous tourist, such as a shin of pork caramelised in honey and served on a bed of sauerkraut, or grilled pork ribs with sage sauce and chips.
